LANSING -- State Representative Mike Simpson (D-Jackson) today announced the first shipment of donated items have arrived at the 325th Combat Support Hospital Unit based in Al-Asad, Iraq. He teamed with the Brooklyn Kiwanis to help gather much-needed items such as pillows, blankets and gloves to send to the troops. Simpson said the first 40 boxes recently arrived in Iraq. "On behalf of all the men and women here, I express my great thanks and appreciation," said Staff Sergeant Thomas Hartley.
"Our soldiers make sacrifices every day to keep us safe," Simpson said. "Donating items requested by this hospital
unit is a great way for our community to show our appreciation for what the men and women in the armed forces do for
us."
Simpson said that donations will be accepted until the end of the year. The
